Dress Rehearsals and Recitals
Don’t forget all needed dance shoes for rehearsals and recitals!! Full costumes need to be worn at dress rehearsal but hair and make-up is not needed until recital. Dancers do not need to arrive early for dress rehearsals but will need to arrive 30 minutes before show times on recital days.
If you have questions regarding dress rehearsals or recitals, please review the Recital Information Packet that was passed out in March. The recital info packet is also posted on our website on the Recital Page. Still need help? Call the studio at 651-735-9252. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
SHOES — Please double check the listing of color/style of shoes needed for your recreational class HERE. Let us know if you have any questions. Dancers wearing ballet shoes in recital MUST have their drawstrings cut short and tucked in. Leave only about 2 to 3 inches in length before tying a knot and tucking inside the shoes. Thank you!
We are in need of more recital volunteers to help backstage. Please use the link below and sign up online if you are available to help. Parents who are volunteering- put a note in the comment field if you wish to help backstage with a particular class. All recital volunteers receive a $10 WDC gift certificate for each recital they volunteer for backstage. We appreciate your help!
NEW THIS YEAR — WDC will be hosting an optional, but RECOMMENDED, recital volunteer training at East Ridge High School during dress rehearsal week. During this training we will go over the responsibilities/expectations of volunteers and answer any questions you may have about helping with recitals. The training will take place at ERHS on Tuesday, May 29th from 8:00-8:45pm (please meet in the cafeteria). If you plan to attend the training, please sign up below. Thank you!
Tickets that were pre-ordered can be picked up at the front desk starting Friday, May 11th. Please note that your account needs to be up to date in order to receive your tickets. Additional tickets will be available for some performances but other performances are sold out. The deadline for ticket returns is Thursday, May 24th. After that date no ticket refunds will be given.
Recital DVDs – Each recital will be professionally recorded by Creative Edge. No other video-recording is allowed at the recital. DVDs are $29.95 and orders will be available to pick up at WDC after July 18th. Please use the link below to order DVDs.
Recital t-shirts that were pre-ordered will be available to pick up in the boutique May 10th. There will be some additional shirts available to purchase in the boutique if you would still like to purchase one. Rhinestones are also available to purchase in the boutique as well.
Trophies & Ribbons – Trophies will be available for pick up at East Ridge High School during the dress rehearsals. Dancers who have danced at WDC for 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 or 15 years will be receive a trophy. We will also have a photo opportunity at the school where parents may take pictures of their dancer in costume with their trophy. All WDC dancers will receive a participation ribbon in class later in May.
Hairpieces to the Rescue! Looking for an easy way to do your dancer’s hair for recital? Try a hairpiece! Put up hair in a bun, attachy a curly scrunchie or another available style and you are set! Just make sure the hair piece is secured with hair pins for the show. Lots of colors and styles are available in the WDC Boutique.
Recitals Flowers, Balloons and Concessions Info: We will once again be selling Flowers, Balloons and Toys and also Concessions at the WDC Recitals. Our group, YDE (formerly YDPA) will be at all of the recitals selling flowers, balloon and toys. We will also be selling concessions in the East Ridge cafeteria. This year our presales will be done at the studio (not at the Dress Rehearsals). Look for the balloons at the studio and the preorder info will be there- coming soon. You do not need to place a preorder, but many choose to do that for best selections. We are excited that we will be able to help you before and at the WDC Recitals!
(All questions are to be directed to YDE – Not the staff at WDC).
Practice Sheets – Dancers in preschool, kindergarten and 1st-2nd grade tap/jazz classes received practice charts in class. They are encouraged to practice at home and return the practice chart any week before the end of the season for a prize.
