Alexis Heruth started her dance career when she was three years old at Woodbury Dance Center, which lead her to continue at arts high school, Perpich Center for the Arts Education and Minnesota State University Mankato. While at MSU, Alexis studied with and performed works by Zenon Dance Company, Penelope Freech, Gabriel Anderson, Lynn Andrews, Mary Davies Stark, Julie Kerr-Berry, Stuart Pimsler Theatre and Dance Company, and Alan Sener. She was recognized by The Kennedy Center for her choreography for the musical, Spring Awakening and danced Daniel Stark’s ‘Crash’ on the Kennedy Center Stage in Washington D.C. Over her collegiate years she received The Breakthrough Dance award as a freshman, several Outstanding Dance Performance Awards and was the recipient of the Bunny Just Theatre scholarship two years in a row. After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Alexis joined modern dance company Alternative Motion Project where she performed at the Lab Theatre this past March. She is currently working on projects with Taja Will and local pop singer Ashley Hall. Alexis is very excited to be teaching at WDC where her dancing began. While assistant teaching this past studio season Alexis’ most memorable moments are being goofy with her students and seeing recital dances grow and come together.
