3D Workshop
The 3D workshop is coming up on September 6th-8th at WDC (Main Studio)! We are excited to welcome back Gregg Russell, Angie Carter and Kendra Alexander and welcome the NEW faculty member – Joy Spears. Dancers will have the opportunity to take classes in tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater and more! Please read through the information below and let us know if you have any questions.
Levels
Below is a listing of the class/level that each competition group will be in for the 3D workshop.
Intermediate — Petite Team (Optional), Jr Team 1 (optional) & Petite Company
Adv — Jr Team 2 (optional), Pre Teen Team (optional) Teen Team (optional) and Jr Company
Semi Pro – Sr Team (optional), Teen Company and Sr Company
Tuition
The Performance Teams have the option to attend 3D. Please see the tuition information below. 3D tuition must be paid at the time of registration. Click here to register online through our online system (look for the 3D classes under the Auditions 2019 session). Please register no later than September 5th. Tuition will be processed September 6th. Performance Teams do not have their regular line classes on Saturday, September 7th (regular season classes start the week of September 9th).
For Company Lines the tuition for the 3D workshop is already included and does not need to be paid for separately (also registration will automatically be processed for these lines – they do not need to submit an online registration).
Petite Team and Jr Team 1 (Intermediate) – $125
Jr Team 2, Pre Teen Team and Teen Team (Advanced) – $225
Sr Team (Semi Pro) – $225
Class attire
Dancers may wear their usual dance attire for tap, jazz, musical theatre and lyrical/contemporary classes (dance shorts and a dance top or a leotard and dance shorts). Colored dance wear may be worn. They will also need all of their dance shoes plus a pair of clean tennis shoes for hip hop classes. They may choose to also put on sweatpants and tank tops or t-shirts for hip hop. Dancers in Semi Pro level will need heels for “Heels Class” on Friday night. They do not have to be “dance shoe heels” but can be any type of heeled shoes or boots that the girls can dance in.
Lunches and snacks
Dancers will need to bring a lunch and/or snack each day (see their daily schedule).
Schedule
The Advanced and Semi Pro levels begin on Friday, September 6th; Intermediate level starts on Saturday, September 7th. “Boy’s class” is for all boys in company lines as well as optional for Boys Comp dancers from last year ($25 for dancers from Boys Comp).

Faculty Biographies
Joy Spears
Alabama native got her start as a professional in 2006 as one of the top 20 contestants on season 2 of the hit FOX TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance”. She has worked with the industry’s top choreographers. She has performed with pop sensations including Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Paula Abdul, Pharrell, Will.i.am, Fall Out Boy, Kat Graham, Priyanka Chopra and DJ Havana Brown as well as some of country music’s top artists such as Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Big & Rich, Jennifer Nettles and Zac Brown Band. Joy has performed on the MTV VMA’s, CMT Awards, CMA Awards, The Billboard Awards, iHeart Radio Music Festival, Starfloor(Paris), ABU TV Song Festival(South Korea) & The Spike Guys Choice Awards. Some of her Television credits include: “Nashville”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Bunheads”, “Drop Dead Diva”, “Abby Lee Miller’s The Ultimate Dance Challenge”, “The X Factor US”, “The X Factor UK”, “American Idol” & “The Graham Norton Show”. Joy can be seen in the feature film “State of Play” starring Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe & Rachel McAdams, the ABC Family movie “A Cinderella Story : Once Upon a Song” & “Alvin & the Chipmunks 4 : Roadchip”. She appeared in the 2014 Ford Super Bowl commercial featuring James Franco and has also performed in industrials and commercial work for Nike, Macy’s, Swarovski Crystals, Sketchers, MAC Cosmetics & Volkswagen. Joy was a Capezio ACE finalist in 2010 and showcased her choreography at the Dance Teacher Summit in New York City.
Joy graduated in 2011 from the University of Alabama with a BA in dance and continues to work in the commercial industry as well as traveling both nationally and internationally to teach master classes and choreograph. She is currently touring with Hollywood Dance Jamz Dance Convention as the contemporary master teacher and faculty member.
Joy most recently was a featured dancer in Sir Roosevelt’s debut music video “Sunday’s Finest” (new music project founded by and starring Zac Brown), alongside Pharrell & Little Big Town at the 2016 CMT Awards and performed on the 2016 CMA Country Christmas Special with Jennifer Nettles. You can see her on the new season of Nashville this January as well as the new feature film, “Passengers” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in theaters now!
Angela Carter
Angela is an international award-winning choreographer, studio owner and highly sought out master teacher. Angela is the owner of Tap’d Out Studio, a private rental dance, fitness and event space in Los Angeles, Ca. Angela is also Co-Director of Tap Into the Network, along with Gregg Russell and Ryan Lohoff. She has also worked, taught and judged for various conventions, studios and organizations (CoDance, Dance Olympus, Dance Challenge – Guatemala, International Dance Challenge, Metropolitan School of the Arts, N-House Dance Productions, 3D Dance Network, Dance Masters of America, etc.). Angela also spent 10 years with VIP Dance. Angela most recently just launched Dance Genius, and acts as Creative Director. Dance Genius is an online educational dance experience, offering online dance classes, interviews and information for the dance community. Also this year, she choreographed a music video for the United Nations International Women’s Month Official Theme Song! Angela can be seen shaking it in the newest Sensa commercial! She has performed and choreographed for opening acts for artists such as Mary J. Blige. Her tap sounds were used in Disney’s Princess and the Frog and Al Gilbert’s Grade 9 Technique. She has been featured in many live shows, short films, and can be seen in commercials for Carvel Ice Cream. She can be seen in music videos for Brittany Murphy. Angela has choreographed and performed for the Miss Kansas Pageant, Choreographers Carnival, LA Tap Festival, Motor City Tap Festival and Tri-Tappin’ Festival. She has also worked with Tyce D’iorio on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, and performed on Mobbed with Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo on FOX! Check out her instructional tap DVDs Tap’d Out – Volumes One and Two! Angela has choreographed for and performed with many professional Los Angeles companies including Tapsounds Underground, the LaLas, and Chloe Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies. She has also worked as an award winning company director at Dance Connection Performing Arts Center in Concord, CA. Angela is excited to join Hollywood Vibe this season!
Gregg Russell
Gregg is an Emmy nominated choreographer and has worked with such stars as: Bette Midler, Gene Kelly, The Nicholas Brothers, Michael Jackson, Gregory Hines, and Kenny Ortega. He directed a commercial for Carvel Ice Cream, and has also performed with numerous music artists: Reba McEntire, Sugar Ray, The B-52‘s, Jason Mraz. Gregg has danced in a Volkswagon national commercial portraying Donald O’conner, and performed on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”. He also was featured and choreographed on the TV shows “Mobbed”, “America’s Got Talent”, and “Live to Dance” hosted by Paula Abdul. He most recently tapped at Madison Square Garden’s home opener for the New York Knicks, choreographed for Derek and Julianne Hough on their “Move” live tour, danced on the 2014 Latin Grammy Awards, and is now working with Seth McFarlane on future projects. He currently is hosting/producing “Tap Into the Network” intensives, channeling 7 different cities throughout the U.S. (www.tapintothenetwork.com ); directing his tap company Tap Sounds Underground into their 17th season; and traveling with ASH Dance Conventions along with numerous international tap festivals and teacher summits.
Kendra Alexander
Kendra Alexander started dancing at age 5 in Savannah, TN under the training of Brandi Franks. Growing up in the convention world, Kendra has won numerous amounts of scholarships and awards including national titles such as Elite Protégé from The Pulse On Tour and Apprentice from Co. Dance. Kendra also was Brian Friedman’s personal assistant and collaborated with him on Brittney Spears’s Til the World Ends music video. Kendra also worked with choreographer Tyce Diorio on America’s Got Talent. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in dance from The University of Alabama and now lives in New York City to keep pursuing her career in dance.
