Attendance Reminder

If your dancer will be missing class please post a comment in the Band App for the day of class they will be missing.

Performance Team/Co Dancers – For missed choreography days, dancers will be required to learn any choreography that they missed and submit a video to their instructor(s) through BAND, text, facebook messenger, etc.

ZOOM — There MAY be an option for dancers to take class via Zoom when they are unable to come in to the studio due to cold symptoms or other reasons. Parents will need to contact the studio or teachers via Band to confirm that Zoom will be an option.

If you know ahead of time that your dancer is going to be absent from class (i.e. vacations, family events, etc), please post a comment in the Band App on the date your dancer will be absent with your dancer’s name and reason why they will be gone. Please note that everyone will have access to these comments, so please keep them brief and discreet.  Thank you!

Make Ups

As a reminder, if your dancer misses a class be sure that they fill out a make up slip at the front desk when they attend a make up class.  They will need to have the make up slip initialed by the instructor and then turn it in to the front desk to be filed.  A list of appropriate make up classes for each line is listed on the sign up page and can be accessed directly HERE.  Extra technique classes may also be used for make ups.

Please note: If your dancer is attending a regularly scheduled ballet class for their make up, they do not need to pay for the class; however, if they are attending a punch card class to use for a make up, they must pay for the class with a punch card.

SPONSOR A DARBY’S DANCER — We are excited for our Darby’s Dancers Program to begin later this month. If you are interested in donating to the program for dancers with special needs, you can choose to sponsor a dancer!  The amount for each dancer’s sponsorship for them to receive free classes, costumes, dance wear and shoes is $175 per year.  You may choose to sponsor a dancer at the full amount or choose to donate any amount to put toward sponsoring a dancer.

DONATE TO WDC DARBY’s DANCERS

Woodbury Dance Center is excited to share we are hosting a Shop for a Cause event with EVEREVE Woodbury Lakes on Thursday, October 8th from 10:00am – 7:00pm benefitting Darby’s Dancers at Woodbury Dance Center.

With extra precautions in place, EVEREVE Style Socials has given us an entire day to shop in the store – and the best part? 15% of every purchase will go towards Darby’s Dancers.

Treats

At time, dancers will not be allowed to pass out treats to their classmates in celebration of birthdays or holidays. Thank you for your understanding with this change in policies due to our new safety guidelines.

Dance bags

With colder weather approaching, dancers will now be allowed to bring in their WDC studio backpack or other small dance bag. Cubbies at WEST may be used to store jackets/boots/shoes etc… At the MAIN studio dancers should plan to bring their bags and other items into the dance rooms when possible and when in room 2 please store it under the benches outside of room 2. Dressing rooms will remain closed at this time.

MEA — Oct 14th-17th

  • Classes WILL be held through Friday, October 16th.
  • Classes WILL NOT be held for Tiny Teams, Performance Teams or Company lines on Saturday, October 17th.

Halloween

Classes will be held in the morning/early afternoon on Saturday, October 31st. Competition line dancers will be given the opportunity to dress up and celebrate Halloween at our 2020 Halloween “Trunk or Treat” event on Saturday, October 24th in the late afternoon/evening. Details for the Halloween event will be sent via email later this month.

Holiday Breaks

Below are the holiday breaks for the tap/jazz lines for this season.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanksgiving      Wednesday, Nov. 25th through Saturday, Nov. 28th

Christmas            Wednesday, December 23rd through Saturday, January 2nd

Fall Photos 2020
 
Alex Esch will again be taking photos of the tap/jazz lines later this fall. Tentative dates are November 21st & 22nd. More information about scheduling and fees will be posted separately.
 

Competition Line Pictures

Competition line pictures will be held Monday, April 12th – Friday, April 17th at WDC.  Please mark your calendars. We will have a more specific schedule on a later date.

Below are the finalized competition dates for the 2021 competition season. Please mark your calendars. We will know the exact times and date of performances closer to the competition dates. We will post competition schedules as soon as they become available.

Nationals 2021

We are working to determine options for nationals next summer.
 
  • Plan A will be Hall of Fame in Chicago area July 6th-11th for Tiny Teams, Performance Teams and Petite Co.
  • Plan A for Junior thru Senior Co will be Radix nationals in Las Vegas June 18th-24th.
  • Plan B for Junior thru Senior Co will be Hall of Fame in Chicago area July 6th-11th.
  • Plan C will be Masquerade nationals in Burnsville June 13th-19th for all tap/jazz lines.
 
Please hold the above dates. We will monitor travel guidelines and will plan to finalize in January 2021. We recommend families hold off on making travel plans at this time.

Recital 2021

We have set our tentative recital dates for 2021.  Recitals are planned to be held Tuesday, June 1st through Sunday, June 5th at East Ridge High School in Woodbury.  Spring show will most likely be scheduled on Monday, June 7th/Tuesday, June 8th.  Please mark you calendars.

Performances

Showcase – Our 7th annual WDC Company Showcase event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 13th  – likely at WDC. Please mark your calendars. More information about a showcase performance for Tiny Teams and Performance Teams will be sent on a later date. Dancers who will be performing in this show will be notified soon.
